We are sharing Richard Simmons’ final social media message to honor his memory.
In a heartfelt tribute, his crew shared the late fitness icon’s final message and a photo he had prepared before his death on July 13 on social media on Saturday, July 20.
Simmons’ crew stated on X (previously Twitter): “Richard worked really hard on his postings for you. He formulated several ideas and proceeded accordingly. He would revisit each idea, adjusting until he achieved his desired outcome before submitting it.
“… On weekends, he would simply post a photo with a caption.” “He always chooses his photos and writes his captions for the upcoming weekend by Friday,” his staff said. “So we have the post-Richard intended to share with you last Sunday. ” We thought you’d like to see it.”
We then shared Simmon’s farewell post and photo, scheduled for Sunday, July 14.
The late actor smiled in the shot as he stood in front of a colorful wall, wearing a bright orange NASA space suit and gray hair.
“Let me transport you to the moon, where we may marvel at the stars. Simmons had included the caption, “Love, Richard.”
On Friday, July 19, in Los Angeles, Simmons made his final post the day before his burial. Nearly a week had passed since the fitness expert’s discovery of his death at 76 in his home, the day after his birthday.
Simmons’ brother Lenny told PEOPLE, in a statement provided by Simmons’ longtime publicist, Tom Estey, after the burial, “Our beloved Dicky was laid to rest this morning surrounded by only family and closest friends,” adding, “We pray for your continued love and support during this very difficult time.”
TMZ obtained a death certificate indicating Simmons’ interment at the Pierce Brothers Westwood Village Memorial Park and Mortuary. The publication reports that the cause of death remained unspecified, and an investigation is underway into the manner of death.
According to TMZ, Simmons slipped in his toilet the night before his death and did not seek medical attention, despite his housekeeper’s insistence. The same housekeeper brought Simmons to bed, discovered him unconscious the next morning, and pronounced him dead.
On July 18, an enforcement source with knowledge of the case told PEOPLE that the Los Angeles Police Department “is not pursuing the investigation as if foul play was involved at this point.”
Simmons had avoided the spotlight for the last decade of his life. In recent months, he has shared personal updates on social media.
In his final interview with PEOPLE before his 76th birthday, he stated, “I feel wonderful! I am grateful to be here, living for another day. I will spend my birthday doing what I do daily: helping people.”
