Barbra Streisand and James Brolin celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary this year. The pair has been candid with the public about their relationship, discussing what it’s like to find love later in life.
The couple has now revealed a long-held romantic secret. Continue reading to learn more about what they revealed.
The story of Barbra Streisand and James Brolin’s love begins like many other love stories: with a blind date. Barbra Streisand and James Brolin matched up on a blind date, but Brolin had very different expectations of what he might look like.
The singer expected to meet a man with a full head of hair and a beard, but she discovered Brolin was bald.
Known for her candor, Streisand couldn’t resist telling her date that his hair was messy. Instead of insulting Brolin, she wins him over, and he believes Streisand is the one for him.
Unlike Brolin, Streisand had a couple more dates before she was certain of her love for the actor. However, the couple quickly fell in love and married in 1998.
This was not their first marriage. Streisand married Elliot Gould from 1961 to 1973, and they have a son named Jason. Brolin has already tied the knot twice before. Jane Agee, a casting agent, worked with me for 20 years, followed by Jane Smithers for over 10 years.
Brolin has three children from previous marriages: Josh, Jessica, and Molly Brolin. He is also the grandpa of four children: Eden, Trevor, Westlyn, and Chapel.
Brolin is enamored with his wife. He can’t picture living life alone; he once stated, “Every night is a new adventure.” Sleep is a waste of time. I can’t wait to see her again in the morning.
The pair just celebrated 25 years of marriage this summer and revealed a long-held secret. The pair interviewed Gayle King of CBS Mornings and revealed something few people knew. Before meeting Streisand, he had been celibate for three years.
“I had been—literally, it’s a wild word—but I had been celibate for three years, thinking, ‘Who needs this?'” In the discussion with King, Brolin revealed this.
Streisand made fun of him and said, “You shouldn’t say that.”
King was shocked, saying, “For three years?”
Brolin responded, “I had no interest in getting involved in a lousy situation.”
“After three years, that must have been a hell of a night, then?” King inquired, to which Brolin verified and added, “Wild!”
He had two unsuccessful marriages and did not want to be intimate with anyone. He saw no need to become involved in another failed romance.
But once a buddy persuaded him to meet Barbra, his perspective shifted, and he felt he had to marry her. Streisand, on the other hand, needed some persuasion, and she only agreed after he asked her three times.
