Robert De Niro is speaking out about his daily routine with his 22-month-old daughter.

While chatting with Scott Mills on BBC Radio 2’s The Scott Mills Breakfast Show, the 81-year-old Zero Day actor and executive producer revealed that he does not see as many movies as he should because he is too busy watching the news or television shows with his 22-month-old daughter Gia.

“I just want to keep up, but I watch current events if you have news [and] stuff like that,” said Mills. “Now I watch, with my little girl, The Wiggles and Ms. Rachel.”

“I didn’t know of them until I started seeing them, and my daughter loves to watch them,” according to him. “But they’re great!”

The Academy Award winner has seven children. De Niro and his first wife, Diahnne Abbott, have two children: daughter Drena, age 53, and son Raphael, who is 48. With his previous girlfriend, model and actress Toukie Smith, he gave birth to twin boys Julian and Aaron, now 29, in 1995. De Niro and his ex-wife Grace Hightower have a son, Elliot, 26, and a daughter, Helen Grace, 13. In April 2023, the joyful father and his fiancée, Tiffany Chen, welcomed a baby daughter named Gia.

When speaking exclusively with PEOPLE in February 2024, De Niro stated that he has no plans to slow down anytime soon. He expressed his intention to continue working by simply saying, “I enjoy it.” The Godfather star also told PEOPLE that he hopes to spend more time with his family, particularly his young daughter Gia.

“She’s such a cute baby.” He said, “So sweet.” “When I look at her, everything else fades away.”So simply being with her in the present time brings me enormous joy and relief.”

Shortly after having his youngest daughter, De Niro reflected on his experience as a parent of seven.

During an interview with Access Hollywood during the opening of his new film About My Parent in May 2023, the actor discussed being a parent and provided his advice on how to be a good dad.

“Sometimes I don’t think people really know what being a good father is. You know you have a responsibility, but it’s a mystery; it’s a lot of excitement but scary, and you do your best,” he told me.

While speaking with PEOPLE in February 2024, De Niro stated that his favorite thing to do with his children is “just being together, taking trips to warm places.”

“The fact that they’d all be together is everything to me,” explained the man.
