There is little doubt that Rockstar Games is one of the gaming industry’s most powerful forces, producing some of the most popular video games of all time.
From lesser-known titles like L.A. Noire and Max Payne to industry behemoths like Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption, Rockstar has definitely produced a lot of games over the years.
But gamers are constantly wondering what the iconic company will produce next, especially since its most recent two games, Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2, have been so well received.
Although it may not come as a surprise, it has been officially announced that Red Dead Redemption 3 will be released at some point.
The now highly praised series began in 2004 with the lesser-known Red Dead Revolver, but it wasn’t until 2010 that the series truly took off.

That was the case with the first Red Dead Redemption, which followed the legendary protagonist John Marston.
Red Dead Redemption 2 was released in 2018 and managed to outperform the original.
We now have formal confirmation that a third Red Dead Redemption game is in the works, though no release date has been set.
Strauss Zelnick, managing director of Rockstar’s parent firm Take-Two Interactive, contrasted some of his business’s main properties at the Jefferies Virtual Global Interactive Entertainment Conference last year (via VGC).
In essence, Zelnick stated that they would continue until players became bored with them.
“If it’s really, really great, it will keep going,” the CEO stated.
“I’m not sure if you saw it, but I just saw the new Bond film, and it was fantastic. You want every franchise to be like James Bond. “There are very few entertainment franchises of any kind that fit that description, but they do exist. And I believe GTA is one of them, as is Red Dead, and NBA is clearly one of them since the game will continue to exist.”

Zelnick, on the other hand, made it obvious that fans would have to wait for the next installment.
“It also requires you to be thoughtful and willing to rest the titles, so you have a sense of, Wow, this is a rare event,” he continued.
“I’ve always said that annualizing non-sports titles risks evaporating intellectual property, even if it’s good. So we take the time to create something we believe is truly wonderful, and we also purposely rest titles so that there is a pent-up desire for that game, making it a special event.”
Rockstar Games is expected to release Grand Theft Auto 6 before Red Dead Redemption 3.
