It’s hardly surprising that Scotty McCreery is exposing his 2-and-a-half-year-old kid to George Strait’s music straight away.
McCreery is such a huge fan of The King that he wrote the entire song “Damn Strait” for him.
But it appears that little Avery is not happy with just listening to Strait’s music—he wants to take his hand at singing it himself.
In an endearing new video that appears to have been produced in a studio, McCreery and his kid can be heard off-camera giving their tribute to the King of Country. You can hear Avery’s charming, diminutive voice singing a phrase from Strait’s 1985 song “The Chair,” and it is a respectable rendition.
“Who sings that song?” McCreery asks his kid.
“George Strait,” the small boy firmly says.
Since the camera is facing a pane of glass, the father-son combination is not directly visible in the video. However, the photos reflected in the glass appear to show McCreery standing at a studio microphone, cradling Avery in his arms.
There’s little doubt that Avery is a musical youngster. He’s been performing onstage with his country star father since he was a baby, and for his second birthday in October, McCreery and his wife Gabi got him a toy drum equipment.
Who knows if they were at the studio for a music session or just hanging out as a family. The future may promise a studio duet between McCreery and his remarkable youngster.
