Sherri Shepherd claims Rosie O’Donnell disclosed “everyone’s pay” to help her obtain more money on “The View,” and she was motivated to do the same for Sunny Hostin years later

On Wednesday’s edition of Sherri Shepherd’s Fox talk program “Sherri,” she and her guest Sunny Hostin explained why they negotiated their salary for “The View” before signing their first contracts and how Rosie O’Donnell made them recognize the necessity of openly talking money.

“She got me paid,” Hostin joked to the Shepherd audience, adding that she had no idea how Shepherd acquired her number.

“You practically overpaid yourself for the entire time you were there, and you also gave me Jenny McCarthy’s pay,” Hostin told the presenter.

Shepherd claimed that she made the gesture because Rosie O’Donnell had done the same for her, telling her “everybody’s wage” while Shepherd was negotiating her own contract with the daytime talk program.

Hostin joined “The View” in 2016 and is still on the show’s host panel today. Shepherd joined the show in 2007 and stayed until 2014, leaving two years before Hostin. O’Donnell was on the long-running talk program twice, initially hosting from 2006 to 2007, then returning in 2014 and departing again in 2015.

“You have to pay it forward,” Shepherd remarked on her Wednesday broadcast.

Shepherd previously told People about how O’Donnell helped her secure a better bargain in 2018. “I would have received something so cheap if Rosie O’Donnell hadn’t informed me what her pay was.” ‘I’m not going to lie; I made a lot of money on ‘The View,’ she said.

In 2018, Shepherd told People that when it comes to money and other contractual obligations, “nobody shares, and as women, we have to do that.”

Hostin revealed on Wednesday’s edition of “Sherri” that her talk with Shepherd taught her that she should request amenities other than money, such as a “vehicle stipend.”

The ladies did not divulge their wages or any other details of their contracts, but Hostin stated that after speaking with Shepherd, she contacted her agent and exclaimed, “You did not get me enough money!”
