A House Speaker claims that Donald Trump’s popularity is at 90 percent, but a recent survey suggests otherwise.
Mike Johnson just appeared on CNBC News and raved over the President and how popular he is.
“[Trump’s] approval ratings are skyrocketing,” Johnson said. “A day or two ago, CNN reported that he had a 90% approval rating! “There has never been a president that high,” he went on to say.
However, a CNN article published on July 17 reported that a recent survey performed by the news source indicated that only 42% of Americans approve of the president, and only 37% believe he has had the appropriate priorities.
Another survey conducted by Reuters and IPSOS found that 41 percent of US residents who voted supported Trump’s presidency.
According to a third survey conducted by The Economist, more than half of the respondents (55 percent) do not approve of the president.
Rasmussen Reports conducted the most recent positive survey for Trump on July 18, reporting that 50% of Americans approve of the businessman-turned-politician.

So, where and how did Johnson achieve a 90 percent approval rating, I hear you ask? According to MSNBC, the House Speaker ignored Democrats’ comments on Trump and instead spoke about how Republicans felt about the president.
According to the CNN survey, 88 percent of Republicans support the president, which Johnson appears to have carelessly rounded up to 90 percent.
While the Trump administration claims that the president is one of the most popular figures in American politics, according to AZ Central, Bill Clinton received 66 percent approval.
Ronald Reagan finished second with 63%, while Barack Obama had a 59 percent approval rating at his height in office.
The lowest on record? Richard Nixon. His approval rating was terrible, at 24 percent. Ouch.
While Nixon received shockingly high overall popularity, Trump’s 100-day approval rating was lower than that of any president in the previous 60 years.
Trump’s current approval ratings appear to be consistent with how Americans felt about him during his first term as president.
In comparisons conducted last month, 42% of participants approved of Trump after his first 100 days in 2017, which matched CNN’s current ratings for the President.
