Simon Cowell has faced a difficult few years that have changed his life…

Simon Cowell’s health has been affected by two separate bicycle accidents occurring over a two-year span. In a recent interview on the Today Show, Simon and his fellow America’s Got Talent judges, Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel, and Terry Crews, openly acknowledged these incidents.

The 63-year-old star experienced a fall from his e-bike in Malibu in 2020 and encountered a similar incident while cycling in London in early 2022.

During a promotional piece for the upcoming 18th season of America’s Got Talent, Simon was questioned about how these incidents influenced his perspective on life. Reflecting on his physical condition before the mishaps, he admitted, “I wasn’t in the best shape, so they were far from terrific, rather quite terrible.” The realization of his fitness level dawned on him during the recovery process.

Describing it as a revelation and a true moment of clarity, Simon expressed his enduring passion for cycling, believing that everything happens for a purpose. Despite the accidents, he emphatically declared, “I’m not giving up on my bike,” with a touch of amusement.

After the second incident, where he suffered a fractured arm and a concussion, Simon was rushed to the hospital. Although less severe than the first accident, it resulted in a fractured back, necessitating a wrist brace for several months. These incidents prompted Simon to adjust his lifestyle, especially for the well-being of his nine-year-old son Eric, inspired by his fiancée, Lauren Silverman.

In an interview with The Sun in April of the previous year, Simon opened up about the challenges he faced after the e-bike accidents, considering therapy for the first time in his life. He felt a sense of unhappiness, unable to articulate his feelings to Eric and uncertain about resuming activities like football and walks.

Simon’s son Eric, born on February 14, 2014, humorously gave his father a new nickname following the bike crashes. The Britain’s Got Talent judge, feeling embarrassed after watching the episodes at home, shared the funny incident where Eric compared him to the superhero Iron Man.

Despite the setbacks, Simon finds solace in the comparison and has maintained a lighthearted approach to his struggles, even downplaying the more serious injuries from the first accident on the AGT stage in June 2021.

Responding to Terry’s inquiry about performing perilous gymnastics during a kid-friendly Shaolin Kung Fu show, Simon laughed and admitted to attempting activities in the garden with Eric, considering it a fantastic accomplishment. However, he acknowledged the need to exercise caution, realizing it might not be such a great idea.

Simon’s journey of fortitude and reflection showcases his unwavering tenacity, maintaining his enthusiasm for cycling and life while finding humor in the face of misfortunes.
