Simple act of kindness: student pays off school lunch debt…

Cayden, a third-grade student at Challenger Elementary in Howell, recently decided to take matters into his own hands after witnessing his classmate being refused a hot lunch at school due to a lack of funds in his account.

Cayden was surprised to see his friend receive a cheese sandwich rather than a heated lunch since his account was low. Cayden’s mother, Amber Melke-Peters, stated that he was definitely distraught when he arrived home from school that day. He asked his mother how he might assist his buddy so that anything like that would not happen again. Cayden then created a fundraising website called “Pay It Forward: No Kids Go Hungry.” Cayden urged his family, friends, and neighbors to help him earn money to pay off bills for his friend’s lunches after creating the website.

Cayden didn’t stop there. He even went about recycling in order to earn some money on his own. Once he had paid off his friends’ lunch bills, Cayden requested that the lunch ladies deposit money into the accounts of the youngsters who needed money so that they would never have to worry again. Cayden has raised approximately $7,000, which has been used to provide hot meals for over 300 pupils. He wants to keep doing this so that no youngster will ever be denied a hot meal again.

“I am very proud of my son,” Amber stated. “He’s only eight years old, and to grasp the concept around this is simply amazing, in my opinion. “He has a golden heart.”
