On Tuesday, September 5, Joe Jonas filed a divorce suit against Sophie Turner in Miami Dade County Court. The couple’s marriage had been ‘irretrievably destroyed’ after four years of marriage, according to court records.
Turner has subsequently sued Jonas in an attempt to bring their two girls back to England, according to legal documents acquired by Page Six.
According to the filing, the couple’s two children have most recently been living with Jonas in Miami and other parts of the United States, but Turner claims Jonas is ‘withholding’ their three-year-old and one-year-old daughters’ passports, preventing them from traveling ‘home to England with their mother.’
The paper also claims Turner didn’t learn about Jonas’ divorce file until the rest of the world did—when media outlets broke the news.
Turner and Jonas announced their breakup earlier this month in a joint statement.
“After four wonderful years of marriage, we have mutually decided to end our marriage amicably,” the statement adds.
“There are many speculative narratives as to why, but this is truly a united decision, and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for ourselves and our children.”

Turner, according to Page Six, filed a complaint against Jonas in a Manhattan court on Thursday.
The suit alleges Jonas has been withholding their girls’ passports, preventing them from returning to their promised ‘permanent home’ in the UK; the pair reportedly agreed to’move to England’ in December 2022.
Turner’s suit against Jonas, citing ‘wrongful retention of two children’ in New York City, also indicates Turner allegedly just discovered out Jonas had filed for divorce when the rest of us did.
Turner believes that the marriage disintegrated “very suddenly.” She and Jonas apparently argued on his birthday, August 15, and the singer filed for divorce a few weeks later, on September 5.
The claims for filing Turner just came out about [Jonas’] divorce from the media.
