Strangers put their lives in danger to save an old man from a damaged car during a hurricane

When an elderly man became trapped in his drowned automobile, unable to escape the rising floods, he had no idea that aid was on the way.

The elderly man felt powerless in the aftermath of the fierce storm until a bunch of Good Samaritans stepped in.

Being nice and empathetic doesn’t cost anything in a world where we can choose to be anything. With so much fear, uncertainty, and volatility in the world, doing good and offering a helping hand to others may make a huge impact on people’s lives.

Coming together as a community and supporting one another in the aftermath of natural disasters or sad situations might help make things better. Random acts of kindness, no matter how great or small, never go unnoticed and may set off a chain reaction that encourages even more happiness. Today’s article follows a similar theme.

Since the eye of Hurricane Ian unleashed its full power on Wednesday, September 29, 2022, the situation in Florida has been anything but usual. The devastating hurricane is still wreaking havoc on Floridians, drowning entire communities, according to the National Hurricane Center.

Gavra also encouraged others in need to contact him or his organization.
Ian reportedly pounded portions of Florida’s western shore, tearing down trees and creating power outages as the storm swept over the state. Following the hurricane, road and air travel was halted, with highways and roads swamped.

The epic storm allegedly made landfall as a Category 4 hurricane, knocking out electricity for more than 2.6 million people. Search and rescue operations have been launched to get people to safety and save lives.

According to NHC, Ian isn’t done inflicting mischief. The most recent storm prediction may cause catastrophic floods in east-central Florida, with strong winds, tornadoes, and life-threatening flooding and storms.

On September 28, a powerful storm hit Southwestern Florida in the afternoon, causing a landfall with a record-breaking storm surge and strong gusts of 150 mph. While Ian is predicted to lessen, it may get more intense at times.

The hurricane was believed to have weakened as of Thursday, February 29, with tropical storm advisories issued from Florida through southern North Carolina.

In the aftermath of the raging floodwaters that have flipped everything upside down, beacons of hope have surfaced in videos and photographs of the local community banding together to support one another.

On September 29, a video of a bunch of kind-hearted men performing a brave rescue went viral. The video shows an elderly guy fighting to get out of his waterlogged automobile in Bonita Springs.

Given his circumstances, finding aid looked like a far-fetched request; nonetheless, the universe sent not one but a gang of Good Samaritans known as the “Collier County Cowboys” to save his life. A couple of men wearing cowboy hats can be seen in the video assisting the older person in getting out of the submerged automobile.

Then they pull him through the crashing waves and away from the current to safety. The men who assisted in the elderly man’s rescue posted the heartfelt video on social media, which various other news outlets then shared. Benny, a member of the gang, recalled:

“When we saw an elderly man struggling in his car, we knew he needed assistance.” The guys all kept grabbing the door and prying it open. He was in a state of shock and didn’t want to let go, so we told him that we were there to assist him.”

Lemi Gavra, another member of the Collier County Cowboys, said, “Thank God we were able to spot this elderly gentleman who was stuck in his car.” He could have had 10 minutes before the automobile was submerged.”

Gavra also encouraged others in need to contact him or his organization.

The video of the old man’s brave rescue has gone viral, garnering reactions from netizens all around the world.

“There are a lot of good and caring people out there.”
