“Some of the thin’gs I witn’essed were insa’ne—no one is contacting the cops, cars are passing by, and no one is stopp’ing to aid him.”
Wilburn, a driver with Anderson Trucking, called 911 to report his discovery.
“He was severely bang’ed up,” Wilburn remarked. “Both lower and upper legs were fractured, and he was pinned in.” “His legs had been severely cru’s’hed.”
He stayed with the trapped O’icer until rescue arrived, at which point he was transferred to a local hospital.
Wilburn, who is still angry that no one stopped him, said he has no idea what caused the mish’ap but that he is usually the guy for the job.
“I’m the fool that runs into burning buildings and rescues dogs.” When I witness anything like that, I can’t go on with my day.”
Since the program’s inception in August 1997, nearly 1,300 professional truck drivers have been designated as Highway Angels for exhibiting exceptional compassion, civility, and courage on the job.
