“That includes himself,” Fetterman is chastised for saying that Americans are “not sending their brightest” to Washington

Sen. John Fetterman of Pennsylvania, renowned for wearing a sweatshirt and gym shorts while his colleagues wear suits and for being unable to complete a string of phrases due to a stroke, is now asserting that the average DC legislator is “scary.” Meet the kettle.

Fetterman’s remarks came on Wednesday night, when he appeared on late-night talk show host Stephen Colbert’s painfully unfunny “The Late Show,” with the supposed comedian questioning Sen. Fetterman about the awkwardness of contentious DC relationships and Fetterman commenting on the average DC politician’s quality.

Colbert followed up with a question: “Is it awkward to be in the Capitol and then run into people that you have put up a devastating meme about—because you’ve got an excellent meme game—but then you have to see these people in the cafeteria?”

“You all need to know that America is not sending its best and brightest to Washington, D.C.,” Fetterman responded. Sometimes you simply can’t believe it. These folks make the decisions that determine the government here. It’s rather frightening.”

Fetterman then mocked Senators who still have some sense of decency and the significance of being respectable, as evidenced by the “Fetterman Rule” attempt to repeal the Senate’s workwear dress code. Fetterman stated, “Oh my God, the world is going to burn because he’s going to wear a hoodie on the floor,” parodying and insulting his dress code opponents.

The slovenly Senator went on to add that the situation in Ukraine is more important to him than what he wears, stating, “Ukraine or shutting down the government, all these issues.” What I believe is far more essential to watch is what this man will do on the Senate floor.”

Any criticism on whether he looks “the best and brightest” while wearing a sweatshirt and workout shorts and fumbling through his statements was left out of the conversation. But that wasn’t the end of it. He also accused House Republicans of endangering Israel by attempting to oust the Speaker of the House.

“As a senator, I will always stand by Israel, and I will make certain that whatever is required, whether military, intelligence, or humanitarian, that I vote for and support.” They can’t do anything right now since we don’t have a speaker. This is what I’m referring to.”

“I know the president is committed to ensuring that we deliver for Israel,” he continued. However, Ukraine is also included. We are in a critical position because we must support both of these initiatives as well as the individuals who are fighting against these heinous foes.”

Fetterman was roasted, as expected. Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, for example, tweeted, “Fetterman speaks the truth.” He’s not conscious of it, yet he is the embodiment of the truth he talks about. This may have been an SNL skit. But that was a hilarious moment on Colbert.”

Likewise, Joe Concha wrote, “Yes, Fetterman, the person who lived off his parents into his 40s and has never worked in the real world, truly stated that.” “For once in his life, John Fetterman is correct,” Benny Johnson added. But the question is whether he realizes that includes himself.”
