A couple just said “I do” at the age of 88!
On Saturday, March 15, Wyona Moss and Jimmye Ashley married in Anderson, South Carolina, in front of around 40 of their closest friends and family members. Moss’ grandson, Darien Rencher, 27, attended the wedding with his wife, Makenzie Rencher, 25, who documented the occasion on TikTok.
“My husband’s 88-year-old grandmother got married today 🥹♥️.” “It’s never too late for love,” Makenzie stated in a video including scenes from the modest wedding, such as a lovely slow dance and kiss.
“She was so happy 😭,” Makenzie said in the description of her photo, which has almost 2 million views and 500,000 likes.

Makenzie reveals that the bride and groom met at their church’s Senior Center, which Moss coordinates. When Ashley relocated to South Carolina, he started going to the center “to meet new people.”
“Pretty soon he had his eyes on this remarkable lady, who happened to be Wyona,” Makenzie says to PEOPLE. “He then asked Wyona to become his special friend because they were tired of spending the day on their own and talking on the phone at night.” Mr. Ashley determined he needed to close the transaction.”
One year later, Ashley asked both of their children for their permission to marry. Ashley proposed at the Senior Center after they had reached an agreement.
“And in less than a month they were married, with the family’s help,” recalls Makenzie, who adds that Moss went down the aisle to “I Believe in You and Me” by Four Tops.
Makenzie shared wedding clips to encourage others to remain in love no matter their age.

“You could see how happy they were all day,” she said. “They still have that naive, childlike charm about them. Their tale is a great reminder to never let someone tell you that you’re too old to pursue your dreams or find love!”
The senior wedding elicited almost 3,000 responses from TikTok users, indicating an emotional response. Some individuals told similar experiences of how their loved ones discovered romance later in life.
“My grandmother got remarried 15 years after my grandfather died at the age of 80. She had a wonderful ten years with her second spouse. “And she’s still kicking at 92! ❤️,” one person said, with another adding, “My mom’s best friend got married for the first time last year at 79!” “I love this!”
“Stop it right now!!! 🥹🥹 I’ll email this to my mom. “She asked me the other day if she could still find love at 60, and I was like, Mommy, you still have time. 😭😭😭❤️,” one person said. “Congrats to your grandma 🙌🏾.”
