Landen, a little child selling lemonade and cookies near his house, recently had a wonderful interaction with a local police officer. Wendelyn Narvaez, Landen’s grandma, caught the event and published it on Facebook to convey her appreciation for the officer’s thoughtfulness.
Officer Perez with the Ansonia Police Department in Connecticut approached Landen’s lemonade stand and started up a discussion. When he asked Landen what he meant to do with his earnings, he said that he was saving up to purchase blue sneakers for school.
Officer Perez left after their conversation, but he quickly returned with a present for Landen: a pair of blue sneakers. The small youngster was pleased by the thoughtful gesture.
Narvaez said how the officer brightened her grandson’s day: “He made him feel like a king.” Days later, she shared a photo of Landen happily wearing his new sneakers.
Ansonia Police Chief Wayne Williams applauded Officer Perez for his act of generosity, stating that police like Perez are the sort of people the department seeks to employ. This simple yet important meeting reminded the community of the positive influence that cops can have.
