A plain country girl submitted her application for the pageant. She had to put up with a lot of jokes being made about her; even the judges were dubious about the application. But as soon as she entered the stage, her competitors’ smiles quickly turned to jealousy because the “simple girl” from Hamlet was determined to win. Ruth Hei Ha, a native of rural Vietnam, has always been used to working hard. She did not make plans for her own future and assisted the family on the farm.

But destiny had other plans, forcing Ruth to consider her future due to the farm’s financial issues. The girl came to realize that the only way she could support her parents was by finding a good job. She enrolled at the institution on her own and worked part-time jobs during her leisure time. Ruth chose to enter a beauty contest after seeing an advertisement in her sophomore year. Given that her peers were well aware of Ruth’s rural background, she was not terrified of their scorn.

Ruth won the challenge with relative ease, much to the amazement of her peers. She was more confident in herself after the triumph. The university sent Ruth to the following city competition, where she won. After that, there was a national competition in Ho Chi Minh City, where she also triumphed. As a consequence, a modest country girl took home the Miss Vietnam crown.

Ruth, of course, used the approximately $30,000 she received for winning the contest on her family’s farm. More significantly, the national competition’s winner has gotten a lot of advertising commissions and can now live normally without having to make any sacrifices. Numerous everyday girls all around the world have found inspiration in Ruth’s tale. She served as a living example of how perseverance may yield the desired results.
