Franke rose to prominence as the host of the ‘8 Passengers’ YouTube channel, which followed her six children, Shari, Chad, Abby, Julie, Russell, and Eve.
However, the channel was shut down earlier this year amid allegations of child abuse, which Franke fiercely rejected as recently as 2020.
On Wednesday, August 30, Franke was detained in Ivins, Utah, when authorities said they discovered a malnourished youngster with apparent injuries.
Jodi Hildebrandt, the former YouTuber’s business partner, was also detained on identical accusations.
The Santa Clara-Ivins Public Safety Department received a complaint of a youngster in need of help at 10:50 a.m. on Wednesday, according to a statement.

The infant was described as ’emaciated and underweight, with open wounds and duct tape around the limbs’ in the statement.
The infant was transferred to a neighboring hospital, and investigators discovered another emaciated child in a nearby residence who was also sent to the hospital.
Four children were put in the custody of the Department of Child and Family Services following a search of the premises.
According to an affidavit submitted by a Santa Clara-Ivins Public Safety Department officer, Franke’s 12-year-old son slipped out of a window and raced to a neighbor’s house to ask for food and water.
According to the paper, the neighbor called police after finding duct tape around the kid’s ankles and wrists, and the second emaciated youngster taken to the hospital was Franke’s 10-year-old daughter.
The neighbor’s 911 call is now public, with the individual breaking up on the phone after informing the operator that Franke’s 12-year-old kid was ‘covered in wounds,’ according to KUTV News, ABC News, and the Deseret News.
“I just had a 12-year-old boy show up here at my front door asking for help, and he said he just came from a neighbor’s house,” the neighbor says in the 911 call.

“We’re aware that there have been issues at this neighbor’s residence. He’s malnourished, has tape on his legs, and is hungry and thirsty.”
“He’s very thirsty,” he continued. I don’t think he needs an ambulance; I’ll leave that to the authorities, but his ankles are bandaged up, and he won’t tell us why. He has duct tape wrapped around each of his ankles. Yes, there are blisters all around them.”
The caller also choked back tears before continuing, according to Deseret News, “I think there’s a good chance he’s been… oh, he’s got them around his wrists as well. OK, this youngster has certainly been held, and I believe he has been held. He’s clearly covered with wounds.
“He claims that what happened to him was his fault.”
