With so much negativity in the world today, it’s easy to forget that there are still decent individuals doing beneficial things for one another.
This week, a beautiful tale has gone viral about a supermarket bagger who went above and beyond to assist an elderly woman in need.
Frederick is a bagger at the Big Y World Class Market in Greenfield, Massachusetts. He was bagging groceries for an older woman recently when he saw she didn’t have enough money to pay for her purchases.
This is an unpleasant circumstance for anyone, and the old woman’s sorrow was understandable.
She was astonished when Frederick grabbed $20 from his pocket and gave it to her so she could pay for her groceries!

“While I was checking out, I noticed an elderly lady in the next lane who didn’t have enough money to pay for her order,” a grocery store employee wrote on Twitter. “The young gentleman who was bagging her groceries gave her $20 so she could pay for her order.”
We congratulate Frederick for going out of his way to aid an elderly woman in need! He is not the only Big Y employee who recently demonstrated kindness. We also commended Anna from Torrington for rushing out to the parking lot to notify a client who had forgotten an item.
A client commented, “When the cashier was bagging, I forgot a can of soup, and Anna came out into the parking lot and brought it to me.”
Simple acts of kindness may brighten everyone’s day. We need more folks like Frederick and Anna in our world!
