Matt LeBlanc demonstrated that his connection with Matthew Perry was just as solid off-screen.
Friends stars Perry and LeBlanc as best friends Chandler Bing and Joey Tribbiani. The show ran from its 1994 premiere to its ten-year run.
Years after Friends concluded, the cast got back together for the much-awaited reunion.
Co-stars David Schwimmer, Lisa Kudrow, Jennifer Aniston, and Courteney Cox joined LeBlanc and Perry for the historic event.
During the reunion, members of the cast conducted interviews with various news sites.
During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, LeBlanc, Perry, and Schwimmer said that Perry, who starred in 17 Again, was unaware that he was in the picture.
Perry began gesturing to others off-screen to stop talking while Schwimmer was speaking with the reporter, but LeBlanc intervened quickly to save him.
Telling his friend, “Matty, that’s the girl doing an interview,”
LeBlanc said, “You’re on camera,” with grace.
Perry, appearing embarrassed, asked the reporter, “Are you in a three-shot shot watching me do that?”
He continued to joke, laughing, saying he “looked like a crazy person.”
Following Perry’s tragic death last year, Friends fans immediately gushed about the actor-character friendship when they saw the clip on TikTok.
One fan wrote on TikTok, “As his castmates have said over the years, he was always looking out for them.”
Another person remarked, “I love that Matt and David were kind of protective over Matthew.”
A third said, “I love how Matt comforts Matthew and makes him understand that the girls are also doing the interview.”
Another person said, “I love how the boys backed up Matthew and copied him when he thought he was off camera.”

One commenter said, “You can’t fake decades of friendship,” and another said, “Matt is covering his best friend here with genuine love.”
When the ensemble of friends got back together in 2021, Perry talked movingly about their “special” friendship.
He said: “The best way I can describe it is after the show, at a party or any social gathering, if we bumped into each other, that was it.” That brought the evening to a close. All you did was spend the entire evening sitting with that person.
“You had to let the individuals you were with know that you had met someone wonderful and that you planned to spend the rest of the evening talking to them, even if you apologized to them. And that’s how it was accomplished.”
