The mystery of the little girl who stood close to Prince William during the Euro 2025 trophy presentation event has been revealed after going viral.
On Sunday (27 July), England’s Lionesses retained their title as European champions after defeating Spain in a nail-biting penalty shootout in Basel, Switzerland.
The title was the second for England’s women’s team and the third for manager Sarina Wiegman, who had previously won with the Netherlands team, with Prince William looking ecstatic at the trophy presentation.
However, the attention was not on the Lionesses or the Prince of Wales at this point, as numerous spectators were left perplexed and wondering who the young girl standing next to the English future queen was.
“Who is that girl on the podium next to Prince William? “She keeps grabbing all the players’ hands while they’re still with Prince William,” remarked a user on X. A second user added, “That girl jumping in front of Prince William to get the handshakes—huge move; she has my respect.”
That was the girl who stood next to Prince William in the Euros 2025 final?

UEFA has recently clarified the internet speculation, stating that the youngster is 12-year-old Greta, who was invited to attend the event alongside Prince William and the association president as part of a UEFA Foundation for Children program.
Speaking about her involvement, the Portuguese-born sports enthusiast, who suffers from Dravet Syndrome, a severe, lifelong epilepsy, said, “I was terrified at first, but then I saw the players beaming at me. It felt like I was a member of their team.”
Meanwhile, a UEFA spokesman stated, “Greta is a happy, open-minded, and driven young lady with a strong enthusiasm for sports.
“Her enthusiasm, perseverance, and love of sport made her a fitting and inspiring choice to participate in the medal ceremony alongside UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin.”
Greta, a football and basketball lover, is a member of the PluSport association, which organizes athletic activities and possibilities for Switzerland’s disabled youth.
UEFA has already published a montage of the youngster’s momentous moment on social media, complete with an embrace from none other than England’s Chloe Kelly, writing, “Turning dreams into reality at [Euro 2025]… An unforgettable moment.”
The Lionesses were fortunate that Greta, Prince William, and Čeferin did not abandon the stage before Captain Leah Williamson raised the prize.
