From viral videos to social media arguments, certain reliable content consistently circulates on the internet.
Of course, one of these must be an optical illusion. There are bizarre patterns that make you wonder if you’re on anything, as well as simple-looking photographs that fuel conspiracy theories.
While some may argue that you possess the “eyes of a sniper,” one unusual photo has left some perplexed.
The photograph of the women sitting and smiling on a sofa initially gives the impression of innocence. You know, the kind of content you’d see reposted on six separate Instagram Stories when those girls from school reunite every two weeks.
However, when you look closely, you’ll notice something strange about the photograph.
Though six are posing for the camera, only five sets of legs appear.
A cursory glance may lead you to believe that the third lady sitting on the sofa is just a torso without legs, but several Reddit users have disputed what they’re actually seeing, which would explain the confusion.
One observer stated, “The first girl is sitting over the second girl’s legs.”
A second girl agreed, stating, “The legs of the second girl are behind those of the first girl.”
A third user went into full detective mode to clarify to other confused users: “Number one has her legs crossed; there is no tear in her knee.” Number two has only one leg exposed, and the rip is in her knee.
“The legs are merging together. (Following the rip down, there is a split with a sock on the right but not on the left. Number two has a rip in her knee and a clearly visible white sock.
Someone else suggested another approach, concentrating on the woman seated second from the left and writing, “Her clothes are the same color and almost mixed. You can tell the difference when there is some sock/skin visible above the boot.”
Another person pointed out, “It’s really hard to tell them apart, but you can see the difference.”
Yes, there are still many people who believe that the total number of legs in the viral video ‘doesn’t add up,’ but where would the fun of optical illusions be without some confusion?
