Cruise, as one of the most successful performers in the world, should be able to purchase any automobile he desires. However, it seems that he cannot afford to own a Bugatti.
Before you begin to fret that Tom Cruise has become bankrupt, it is important to note that his financial situation is not the reason he is unable to purchase one.
Even for those who lack vehicle knowledge, Bugattis are a relatively rare luxury vehicle. Even if they can afford the exorbitant price, not everyone has the opportunity to own one.
The issue arises from the corporation’s recent decision to forbid Cruise from purchasing one following a public incident. Few corporations would be so bold as to prohibit one of the most renowned individuals in the world, yet here we are.
The French company is known for creating some of the world’s fastest cars and for upholding stringent rules for its clients.
Not only do owners have to pay almost $21,000 per year on maintenance, which is more than the cost of many automobiles on the market, but they are also pushed to change their tires every 10,000 miles (ca. 16,093 km).
The vehicles themselves may cost anywhere from $3 million to $12.5 million (according to MotorTrend), but it’s not the expense of owning a Bugatti that’s holding Cruise back.
His suspension stems from an event that occurred in 2006 and is likely to plague the actor even now.
It all began at the premiere of Mission Impossible 3, when Cruise was allegedly observed struggling to unlock the passenger side door of his Bugatti Veyron, which was waiting for his then-wife, Katie Holmes, to be released.
Holmes ultimately emerged from the vehicle and onto the red carpet; however, the high-profile error caught Bugatti’s attention.
The supercar brand deemed the awkward situation too embarrassing to repeat, leading to Cruise’s lifetime ban.
Don’t feel too terrible for Cruise, though, because he’s not alone in the ‘banned from Bugatti’ group.
For various reasons, celebrities like Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather, Flo Rida, Simon Cowell, and 2009 Formula One World Champion Jenson Button have been barred from owning a Bugatti.
Fortunately, Cruise has found consolation in other luxury automobile manufacturers, such as BMWs, Chevrolets, and Mustangs, all of which have made their way into his garage at some time.
