A MasterChef contestant was eliminated from the show after making the courageous decision to offer the judges a meal they had ‘never seen’ before during their time in the competition.

MasterChef, as its name suggests, focuses on showcasing your ability to create the best possible food. Contestants seek to demonstrate their use of flavor, presentation abilities, and kitchen efficiency in the hopes of being named Master Chef.

As a result, the series has included various intriguing and risky meals, but maybe none more daring than the plate presented by participant Saray Carrillo on the program in Spain.

Carrillo, along with her other candidates, faced a task that elevated ‘farm to table’ to new heights. The scenario was not a case of wiping dirt off potatoes but of a complete partridge, a sort of game bird.

While many amateur chefs would be content to roast a chicken and carve around the carcass for a pleasant supper, the reality was a different story. Alternatively, birds breed.

The would-be master chefs were handed the birds entire, and we’re not talking about the ‘whole chicken’ you buy at the grocery store, with its feathers neatly clipped.

Instead, we’re talking about an entire creature, replete with guts, feathers, and a face.

The chefs then had to remove and gut their birds before preparing them as they saw fit, which might include roasting them whole, removing the breast fillets, or confiting the legs.

Carrillo’s aversion to chickens rendered the process an absolute ordeal for her, although there were alternative methods of meat preparation.

Rather than plunging in, Carillo chose an alternative approach. She presented the judges with her bird, which was still adorned with feathers, as well as some spring onions and tomatoes for color.

The meal so stunned one of the judges that they exclaimed, “This is an experience you never see on MasterChef.”

The presentation video was a resounding success on social media, garnering more than 1.8 million views. However, the judges were not as enthusiastic about it, and the judges ultimately eliminated Carrillo from the program.

However, the chef was clearly delighted with her decision and merely muttered, “Goodbye,” as she walked away.
