‘The Voice’ ‘Queen’ Reba McEntire is ‘channeling Blake’

Reba, queen of the world!

Fans get a first glimpse at McEntire’s work as a first-time coach on The Voice in a teaser video premiering exclusively with PEOPLE on Tuesday.

“What I intend to do is channel Blake [Shelton].” “I’m going to win this thing,” the 68-year-old country singer declares at the start of the video, later adding, “I am thrilled to be sitting in Blake’s chair; I hope I do it justice.”

Throughout the video, McEntire’s colleagues, coaches Gwen Stefani, Niall Horan, and John Legend, applaud her efforts on season 24 so far.

“I was so excited that the queen of country, Reba, was going to be filling Blake’s seat,” Stefani, 53, recalls. “Going head-to-head with Reba is extremely intimidating because she is so experienced and has such a legacy. ” She’s a legend.”

“Reba McEntire is here,” Legend, 44, says. She’s had successful sitcoms and a phenomenally successful singing career, she’s performed, and she’s well-liked. She has such a captivating personality. She’s a legend, a queen, and we’re all thinking, ‘Well, how can we battle and compete against Reba?'”

Horan, 30, who won as a first-time coach last season, previously worked with McEntire as a mega mentor.

“Watching her interact with the artists is so impressive,” he says. “The way she talked through the singing side, the technical side, is priceless.”

McEntire discusses her intentions as a first-time coach near the end of the film, where she provides guidance to candidates auditioning.

She continues, “The talent has completely blown me away.” “I’ve been in this business for over 50 years, so hopefully I’ll be able to pass on some of the pointers that some people were kind enough to give me, as well as things that I’ve learned on my own—the hard way.”

McEntire concludes the video by saying, “They keep calling me the queen, as they should.”

Season 24 of The Voice will start on NBC on September 25 at 8 p.m. ET.

McEntire spoke to PEOPLE in May about joining the famous competition show.

“I’m taking over for Blake, so I’m going to represent country music.” He wears large boots. “I don’t know what size those boots are, but they’re big, so I’m going to work really hard to make him proud,” McEntire said of Shelton, who departed the competition program after 23 seasons in May.
