The Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show has spoken, and Buddy Holly the pooch is this year’s finest dog.
Buddy Holly, a white and gray beagle named after the 1950s rock-and-roll star, was photographed posing for a picture next to a sparkling trophy.
The Petit Basset Griffon Vendéen from Palm Springs, California, was the first of its breed to win the prestigious “Best in Show” award in the competition’s 147-year history.
Look at Buddy Holly 💜🏆

“I never thought a PBGV would do this,” Janice Hayes, Buddy Holly’s manager, told The Washington Post. “Buddy Holly is the epitome of a dog show.”
There were other canines at the exhibition who won our hearts as well.
Consider Rummie, a Pekingese with a magnificent mop of brown fur. Rummie did not win first place, but she did receive the “Reserve Best in Show” ribbon.

The Westminster Dog Show aristocracy is Pekingese. Wasabi, another Pekingese, took first place at the show in 2021. Wasabi’s grandfather, Malachy, earned the award in 2012.
Other winners of this year’s tournament include Winston, a little but formidable French Bulldog who won in the non-sporting category.

And an honorable mention must go to Addie, a Komondor who is 10% dog and 90% mop.
