They believed he was too hefty and didn’t have what it takes, but when he danced, everyone was speechless

They believed he was too hefty and lacked the necessary skills, but he used every doubt as fuel. When he took the stage and performed his swing performance, mouths fell.

He didn’t just perform; he controlled every rhythm, stride, and spin. It was like seeing gravity loosen up. The audience was on their feet, eyes wide, and cheering like mad. What about those critics? He was left speechless, swallowing every word they had ever said to him.

Sometimes we form quick judgments about someone based on their appearance. We know we shouldn’t and strive not to, but we still do it occasionally. Simply ask dancer John Lindo. When you first see John, you might not believe he’s a dancer. He is tall and acknowledges he is overweight. He’s heard that some people thought he was too overweight to be taken seriously in the dancing industry. However, John has turned other people’s initial perceptions of him into a challenge, rather than letting them knock him down. He concentrated his attention on becoming a dancer, and boy, did he succeed.

John started swing dancing more than two decades ago. He has participated in and won various events, including the United States Open. When he hits the stage with his companion Deborah Szekely, no force on Earth can stop him.

The entire floor becomes quiet when the two begin performing. The ease with which Lindo moves and the joy on his face indicate that he was born to dance. And he wouldn’t stop, whether or not anyone thought he was a dancer.
