In a tiny, peaceful hamlet lived a guy who had acquired a sizable amount of wealth over the course of his life. He went to his beloved wife with a strange request just before his dying breath.
“When I die, I want you to take all my money and place it in the casket with me,” he remarked. “I want to take my wealth with me into the afterlife.” His request was genuine, and he pleaded with his wife to keep this commitment.
His wife earnestly promised to respect his desire while crying. She was steadfast in her commitment to his desire.
Unfortunately, the inevitable happened, and the guy died. His wife sat by him in the casket, clothed in mourning apparel, while he lay in his final resting place. During this tough moment, she was joined by a close friend for support.
The burial service continued, and as the final minutes drew near, the wife called a halt to it. She’d taken a tiny box with her and carefully placed it inside the coffin. The casket was closed and sealed by the undertakers, preparing it for its journey to the hereafter.
“My dear friend, surely you didn’t put all that money in there with your husband, did you?” Her friend, bewildered and intrigued, couldn’t hold her curiosity any longer and inquired. “I am a woman of faith, and I cannot break my promise,” the faithful wife said calmly and unwaveringly. I informed him that I would deposit the funds with him.”
“But, you see, I kept my promise in a way that allows me to adhere to my faith,” she said with a cheeky smile. I collected all of the funds, placed them in my personal account, and wrote a check. If he can discover a means to cash it in the hereafter, he may spend it whatever he wants.”
