The sunglasses remain on at the Met Gala—but only if you’re Vera Wang!
The famed designer, 75, strolled up the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in fresh New York City on Monday, May 5, for the 2025 Met Gala, with fresh hair, smart sunglasses, and a super-sexy gown that revealed skin from all sides. The baby bangs of the fashion industry mainstay were one of the night’s most unexpected hair alterations.
Wang’s firm described the designer’s bespoke Vera Wang Haute look as a light ivory Italian cupro jersey draped gown with a low cowl neckline, grey feather appliquéd skirt, and black feather lapels.
Keke Palmer, whose look she also designed, accompanied Wang.

The stunning exhibition comes less than three months after Wang’s jaw-dropping red carpet experience at the 2025 BAFTA Awards in London, where she debuted a shorter cut and wore sunglasses for red carpet photos.
Of course, the beloved designer is no stranger to the Met Gala, having previously been alongside Janelle Monáe in 2024, Ariana Grande in 2018, and Selena Gomez in 2015.
Palmer, in an interview with Vogue on the red carpet at the 2025 Met Gala, described Wang’s Dorothy Dandridge-inspired ensemble as “a little masculine with a feminine tribute.”
The ensemble featured a white tuxedo gown to reflect the night’s theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” which corresponded with the museum’s spring 2025 show.

“Pretty much just wanted to inhabit the tailoring but also the history of Black culture, fashion as a tool to enter spaces that often we’re not allowed,” Palmer said. “So that’s why I wanted to take the inspiration of Dorothy Dandridge—all the doors that she opened for us with fashion and beauty.”
Wang spoke with PEOPLE in March about a new chapter in her career, when she expanded her relationship with Jared Jewelers to include Vow, a series of engagement and anniversary rings. She explained that a substantial portion of the collection, which includes both natural and lab-grown diamonds, was inspired by 1970s ring trends.
“When I was young, there was a trend of women always wearing their engagement rings and their wedding bands; they were really just clipped in together so they fit perfectly,” according to her. “I believe that women’s lifestyles have evolved throughout time. Even if you love your engagement ring, it doesn’t mean you want to wear it daily.
