When Meghan Markle received an invitation to appear in the Suits spin-off, it revealed her relationship with her former on-screen lover, Patrick J. Adams.

Suits LA is due to begin on Sunday (23 February), and while Gabriel Macht, who portrayed Harvey Specter in the original, will appear in a few episodes of the new series, it is unclear whether any other cast members will return.

But with Macht, Adams (Mike Ross), Gina Torres (Jessica Pearson), and Sarah Rafferty (Donna Paulsen) still in touch, Torres commented about Markle at last year’s Golden Globes, saying that ‘they don’t have her number’ when the four reunited at the event.

However, Suits creator Aaron Korsh has already hinted at a possible comeback for Markle and other original cast members.

At the end of season seven, Markle’s character, Rachel Zane, relocated to Seattle with her on-screen husband, Ross (Patrick J. Adams), to start their own legal company.

While Markle did not return for the show’s last two seasons, Adams became a recurrent character.

Speaking to People on Thursday (20 February), Korsh hinted at Markle’s possible comeback, saying, “So, look, to me, we have thought about whether Meghan or any of the other cast members are coming on and portraying themselves as actors.

“That seems a little… to me. “My brain explodes at the thought of that,” he said.

He went on to say, “So I believe it blows up the globe too much; certainly, Meghan may return under any conditions.

“But I think realistically, it would be too much of an explosion of the fourth wall to do that,” he told me.

Last year, Adams discussed Markle, her relationship with the rest of the ensemble, and how close the two have become in the years since their television appearance.

The actor behind the phony lawyer Ross has subsequently launched a podcast called Sidebar with former co-star Rafferty, who played Donna on the program.

He joined Reddit after the podcast launched to answer questions, and when asked whether he knew how Markle was doing, he said, “We are not really in touch.”

Adams went on to say, “She lives a very different life now for obvious and important reasons.” However, once she learned about the podcast, her life drastically changed. I received a thoughtful text from her, expressing her excitement for us and asking how she could help in any way.

“So lovely to still have that kind of support and friendship after so many years apart,” he told me.

Fans also asked if she would ever make an appearance on the show as a guest, but this question went unanswered.

Adams seems delighted with the message of support and even disclosed on the show that the duo had previously filmed a pilot together, which was not picked up.

Clearly, chemistry always wins.
