Teddy was meant to have the happiest day of his life, but it turned out to be the worst day of his life. His parents offered to take him to Disney World or Lego Land to celebrate his sixth birthday, but he preferred to celebrate with his friends instead.
Two weeks before the big day, Teddy’s mother reserved a table at Peter Piper Pizza and handed Teddy’s teacher 32 invitations to distribute to each child in the class. More than half of the parents stated they would bring their children to the celebration.
On Teddy’s birthday, Mom Sia made gift bags for his buddies and ordered a number of pizzas. Everyone was expecting a good time, but none of the classmates came up. The family had been waiting for more than an hour, but the buddies were nowhere to be seen.
Sia’s heart was crushed. She was heartbroken for her kid, who was depressed on what was meant to be a happy day.

“I was bummed; I was bummed out for sure,” Teddy’s father told the New York Post. “Teddy, the biggest thing for him was having his classmates there, so not seeing them show up an hour into the party was disappointing.” To cheer up their youngster, the parents tried to divert him with activities like arcade games.
Sia decided to photograph Teddy and post it online to warn everyone that atrocities like this should never happen to anyone. She, on the other hand, had no idea the photo of the depressed Teddy would go viral and get so much attention. She even regretted releasing it after seeing how much attention it attracted.
Hundreds of messages wished Teddy a happy birthday, and many even sent gifts. The Phoenix Suns and the Phoenix Rising MLS team were among those who wanted to help make Teddy’s day a little brighter by inviting the family to upcoming games.
Only one parent called Sia to apologize for not bringing their children to the celebration.
Even though this story upset us, it served as a reminder that we need to be more thoughtful and caring.
