Luke Islam, who is only 11 years old, says his lifetime desire has been to make it to Broadway. He began singing at the age of three, performed often with his sister, and believed that his audition for America’s Got Talent would assist him forward. As you can see in the video below, it surely did.
Luke, a New York City native, had already performed on stage several times before joining AGT. He got as far as “off-Broadway,” but he understood he needed a wider platform if he was going to make it anywhere soon. And then he gets to AGT.

It didn’t start out well for Luke due to a joke perpetrated by Simon. When asked who his favorite judge was, Luke said that he loved all of them. He did, however, say that if he had to select one, it would be Julianne Hough since he found similarities between himself and his sister, as well as Julia and her brother. Simon playfully gave him the red rejection buzzer at that point but then grinned and stated it was an accident.
When Luke starts singing, however, no one is messing around. He is clearly a professional, as seen by his performance of Sara Bareilles’ “She Used to be Mine,” from the Broadway musical The Waitress, which astonished everyone and brought the audience to its feet.

And, while all of the judges were impressed, watch the video to discover what his favorite, Julianne, does to help him advance in his profession.
