He was prepared to endure six arduous flights if it meant spending time with his daughter during the holidays. What would fathers not do to make their daughters happy?
The holiday season is commonly recognized as a time to spend with family and friends. While everyone deserves a relaxing holiday from the stresses of everyday life, those in particular professions, such as physicians, nurses, hospital staff, firemen, first responders, police, military officials, flight attendants, and others, must make sacrifices for others.
These folks work in crucial services and do not have the luxury of spending vacations with their family. It stinks, but it needs to be done. Someone must make the sacrifices.

Pierce Vaughan, a Delta Air flight attendant, was scheduled to work on Christmas Day and the following day in December 2018. She was also scheduled to work on six flights every day. How much more constrained might a timetable be?
Peirce’s father, Hal Vaughan, was not going to let her spend the vacation alone. The old dad, in an unbelievable act of pure fatherly love, bought a seat on every one of Pierce’s flights so he could be with her. If sitting through one flight is challenging, consider going through six in a row. Mr. Vaughan was unconcerned. He’s not as youthful or as powerful as he once was, but nothing could keep him from being with his newborn girl.
He spent his cash and spent the holidays sitting on aircraft throughout the United States, but it was all worth it. Pierce would go through it all over again.
Mike Levy, a passenger on a first-class flight from Fort Myers, Florida, to Detroit, Michigan, relayed the touching story. He struck up a discussion with Hal and was taken aback when he learned why the man was going to Detroit. His destination had not been Detroit. On that plane with his kid, he was exactly where he needed to be.
Levy took a selfie with Hal and a picture of Pierce. He shared their tale on Facebook with their consent, and it quickly went viral. The tender relationship between the loving father and his daughter moved thousands of people.

“I had the pleasure of sitting next to Hal on my flight back home,” Levy said in the caption of his Instagram image. “His daughter Pierce was our flight attendant, and she had to work over the holidays.” Hal resolved to spend the vacation with her. As a result, he is going on each of her flights today and tomorrow across the nation to spend time with his daughter during the holiday season. What a wonderful father! Merry Christmas to you both!”
Hal was still suffering from a terrible injury he got when he fell from a tree earlier that year, according to Levy. It couldn’t have been easy for him to stand in airport lines and shuffle through them for so long.
“He is still recovering from a neck injury from earlier in the year, which had left him quadriplegic for a period,” Levy said in a statement. “It was his first journey after the accident. I was astounded and felt he was a fantastic father for going out of his way to be with his kid.”
Hal subsequently revealed to the New York Times why he couldn’t let his daughter spend Christmas alone. “I just felt terrible thinking about her spending her first holiday alone, even though she’s 25.” Pierce may be an adult and self-sufficient, but she is still his little daughter.
Pierce was ecstatic at how quickly their tale had gone viral. She commented on Levy’s article, saying, “Dad’s first trip using his benefits was a success!” A special thank you to all of the patient, amazing gate agents around the country, as well as my ideal crew. He made every flight and even got first class on the RSW-DTW aircraft (a holiday miracle). [Thank you] Mike Levy for being a terrific first-class passenger and letting us grasp how cool this is!”
Everyone deserves to be with their loved ones during this season of love and family. This incredible narrative has so much to teach us. Hal was prepared to go to great lengths to be with his daughter, who was unable to leave her job.
You, too, can do it for someone you care about.
