Woman who flung Chipotle burrito at worker has been sentenced to work at fast-food restaurant

When nearly everyone on the internet saw a video of Rosemary Hayne arguing with Chipotle employee Emily Russell in September, she became well-known.

Hayne was then shown on various cameras tossing the meal in the worker’s face at close range.

Hayne was initially sentenced to pay a fine and serve 180 days in jail for her actions, with 90 days deferred.

The mother of four had already pleaded guilty to a minor assault offense.

Judge Timothy Gilligan in Parma, Ohio, gave Hayne an option last week between a 90-day sentence and a 30-day penalty on top of 60 days working in a fast food restaurant.

“Do you want to walk in her shoes for two months and learn how people should treat people, or do you want to do your jail time?” During the hearing, Gilligan posed the question to Hayne.

“I’d like to walk in her shoes,” said the woman.

It occurred when the court questioned Hayne’s demeanor and reaction to a small amount of food.

“Your response after your burrito bowl was not prepared to your liking is as follows?” Judge Gilligan inquired.

“This isn’t the ‘Real Housewives of Parma.'” “This is not acceptable behavior,” he stated.

Gilligan and her attorney told CNN on Wednesday that Hayne has failed to find work since the hearing.

According to the woman’s attorney, Joseph O’Malley, his client had no criminal record before the viral event, and she is really remorseful for her conduct that day.

He went on to say, “Let’s allow her to not let this one day define the rest of her life.”

Since then, Judge Gilligan has ruled that Hayne must have the court approve her employment and put in 20 hours per week.

“Every time you watch the video, it makes you more and more upset,” the judge told CNN. “I was thinking, ‘What else can I do but have her sit in jail?'”

When CNN asked him if he would hire Hayne if he owned a fast-food restaurant, the judge responded that he didn’t think Hayne would have any trouble finding employment.

“I don’t see her as any more dangerous than anyone who walks in off the street,” he added. I saw it as someone who had lost her cool.”
