You should know what these black dots in your kitchen mean…

Social media platforms, particularly Facebook and Reddit, serve as valuable spaces for seeking advice on various issues. Recently, a mom turned to a Mrs. Hinch fan page, posting images of peculiar black specks along her skirting board and wall, seeking insights from fellow users.

The mom expressed her concern about the mysterious specks that had appeared in her dining room, on the skirting board, wallpaper, and floor, despite daily mopping. Describing them as resembling paint splatter but without a bumpy texture, she sought assistance in identifying the source of these specks.

The online community promptly responded with various suggestions. Some users believed the photos depicted flies’ feces, while others insisted it was spiders’ droppings. Suggestions included using Dettox spray to address the issue, particularly during the time of year when spiders are more active.

While spiders occasionally find their way into homes, they are generally not considered invasive pests. Some spiders even play a beneficial role by acting as natural insecticides. Like all living creatures, spiders excrete waste, and their feces are described as highly viscous liquids with a dark appearance, resembling paint splatter.

In addition to feces, some spiders produce “bolus,” which is an indigestible ball composed of the remains of their prey or unintentionally ingested webbing. These boluses appear as white balls containing mangled insect parts.

It’s crucial to note that spiders’ droppings are not toxic. However, if not promptly removed, they can be challenging to clean and may cause stains on furniture, upholstery, fabric, and walls. The online community’s collective knowledge and advice provide a valuable resource for individuals seeking insights into such household mysteries.
