On the America’s Got Talent stage, the audience was used to seeing beautiful and graceful ballet performances. But Ashlee Montague decided to show that ballet could be not only beautiful, but also extremely dangerous.
33-year-old Ashlee stepped onto the stage as a ballerina, and at first everything seemed fairly ordinary. Her movements were graceful, the music was classical, and the performance looked like a traditional ballet routine.
But then she did something that instantly changed the entire atmosphere.
Ashlee began walking and balancing on glass wine bottles while wearing ballet pointe shoes. And the most terrifying part was that she was doing all of this about 15 feet above the ground.
The audience literally held its breath.

Every step looked incredibly dangerous. The bottles were far from a stable platform, and her entire body had to remain in perfect balance. One small mistake could have ended with a dangerous fall.
And that was exactly what made the performance so tense.
At times, Ashlee appeared dangerously close to losing her balance, causing people in the theater to visibly worry. But she kept going, maintaining her focus while performing ballet movements at the same time.
The judges watched in complete amazement. Simon Cowell, who is usually quite critical when judging ballet performances, specifically pointed out just how dangerous and difficult Ashlee’s act was. All four judges gave her a “Yes,” allowing her to advance to the next round.
Later, her performances became even more dangerous. In the quarterfinals, she performed ballet on glass bottles surrounded by fire, while also climbing a ladder. During that performance, Simon Cowell even gave her a standing ovation.
Ashlee’s performance wasn’t simply about dance.
It proved that when classical art is combined with incredible physical strength, balance, and courage, it can create something audiences will remember for a very long time.
