In Sisu, a Finnish gold worker faces off against a group of Nazi killers during World War II.
When a group of Nazi soldiers try to steal Aatami Korpi’s reward, they quickly find out that they made a mistake. The battle-hardened former fighter goes on a bloody mission to get his gold back, which is said to be based on both Rambo and Finnish sniper Simo Hayha.
The result is a violent, bloody movie that would make even Tarantino wince.
Finnish playwright Jalmari Helender wrote and directed all of this brutal action. He is best known for his work on movies like Rare Exports and Big Game.
He is now using his original Finnish language in a new war movie.
Since it came out, the movie has gotten great ratings and a high score on Rotten Tomatoes (94%.
The film also did very well at the Sitges International Film Festival in Catalonia, where Jorma Tommila won Best Actor and the awards for Best Film, Best Music, and Best Cinematography.

Fans of the Finnish movie have taken to Twitter (or X, if you prefer) to praise it. For example, one person wrote, “Just finished Sisu. This movie felt like an old-fashioned spaghetti western, but it also had some of Tarantino’s extreme violence.
They also said, “This one caught me off guard. There’s no fluff, and it’s all ki*ler.”
“OMG, Sisu is so delicious!” exclaimed another. Nazi blood was all over! We’re watching it for the second time right now. “I would recommend that it is not enough.”
Film School Rejects called the offering “glorious carnage,” compared it to Rambo, and said it’s “the most fun you can have watching Nazis get completely destroyed.”

Fans of Helender’s war movie may soon be able to see a follow-up.
After the movie was a big hit in the US and Canada, where it made an unexpectedly high $7.3 million (£5.7 million), Helander suggested that he might make a sequel, but this has not been confirmed.
Sisu is now available to view or rent on Amazon Prime, YouTube, and Apple TV, but you might want to wait until after dinner to start watching this brutally violent movie.
