Grammy-winning music legend sustains injuries due to ski accident

Brooks & Dunn frontman Ronnie Dunn is taking an “8-week vacation” to recover from a serious skiing accident. Dunn announced the news on Instagram on December 3, uploading a shot of his left leg wrapped in a bandage up to his thigh.

Dunn jokingly referenced his 2011 song “I Don’t Dance,” captioning the image, “Changing those lyrics from ‘I don’t dance with anybody but you’ to ‘I probably shouldn’t ski anymore at 72,'” adding, “8-week vacation!!”

While the performer did not go into detail about his accident or injuries, his daughter, Haley Dunn, shared a video of her father using a walker on her Instagram Story. “12 hours post knee replacement,” she captioned the video, which showed Dunn taking his hands off the walker to put weight on his legs following surgery.
Dunn’s accident occurred shortly after the 2024 CMA Awards, when he and Kirk Brooks won Vocal Duo of the Year, their 15th CMA title. The pair also performed “Believe” with Jelly Roll during the awards ceremony.

Dunn’s knee injury may have an impact on Brooks & Dunn’s September announcement of their Neon Moon Tour. In 2025, the two want to bring their live act to stadia in Texas, North Carolina, Illinois, and other locations. Live Nation’s Neon Moon Tour will kick off in Lubbock, Texas on March 13, 2025, and wrap up at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Kentucky on April 16.
In November, Brooks told Country Living that he and Dunn felt “blessed” to be traveling after such a lengthy career. “I just love walking on the stage—to think that all those people care enough about some music that you made after so many years—it really does sound so cliché, but it really makes you feel blessed; it’s a blessing, and I don’t take it for granted,” he told the news organization. “I believe it has a lot to do with where you are from. Furthermore, when we first met, Ronnie was 38 years old and I was 36. I mean, what are the chances of having a 30-year career? It was largely due to us putting in the effort, persevering, and resolving to not compromise.
