Jonathan Walker, a musician, was performing on the streets of Leeds, England when a homeless guy approached him and asked if he could sing a song with him. Walker had no clue whether the man could sing but accepted because he had seen him on the streets several times.

The homeless man’s name turned out to be Bernard Davey. Walker played the guitar as Davey sang the song “Summertime” by American composer George Gershwin. And the way he sang captivated everyone who passed by, and eventually the Internet.

“Hopefully, Bernard’s wonderful improvisation will help people remember that you shouldn’t judge people on the street by their looks and that you need to look deeper to understand a person,” Walker writes.
