Despite her many appearances in shows such as The Morning Show, Cake, We’re the Millers and others, Jennifer Aniston will always be known to Friends fans as Rachel Green, the character she portrayed on the iconic sitcom from 1994 to 2004. However, in a recent interview, the performer disclosed that she had abandoned the role of Rachel Green.
“I always adore Rachel and return to Rachel,” the Golden Globe winner said in March 2023 to Stellar Magazine. “I can’t get away from her,” she remarked, before referring to the figure as one of her “kids.” However, when asked if she’d ever reprise the part, Aniston said, “I feel like I have done them all; wrap them up and put them in a tidy pile and put them away.”
The Rumor Has It star made the remarks during a visit to The Jonathan Ross Show in March 2023, during which she was asked about the possibility of another Friends reunion. “I don’t believe so,” the actor said to host Jonathan Ross. “I believe that was it; I believe it was the swansong.” But you do never know.”

However, Aniston revealed that the Friends ensemble “stays in contact,” adding that she, David Schwimmer (Ross Gellar), Lisa Kudrow (Phoebe Buffay), Matthew Perry (Chandler Bing), Courteney Cox (Monica Gellar), and Matt Le Blanc (Joey Tribbiani) would “never shake each other” since they’re “family forever.”
Meanwhile, the Emmy winner stated that she may revisit Friends episodes “once in a while.” “I’ll stand there and think to myself, ‘Huh, I don’t recall that.'”
Friends fans were ecstatic in 2021 when the stars of the program reunited for the first time in 16 years in the HBO Max reunion special Friends: The Reunion. The one-off program included re-enactments of key scenes, a slew of cameos, and an A-list celebrity singalong.
Aniston claimed on Live with Kelly and Ryan in April 2023 that “no one really realized” how emotional the reunion show would be, describing the encounter as more “intense” than she had anticipated.
