Jimmy Kimmel is preparing a backup plan.
While discussing Donald Trump’s administration on the August 7 edition of The Sarah Silverman Podcast, the 57-year-old talk show host disclosed that he gained Italian citizenship.
“A lot of people I know are thinking about where they can get citizenship,” presenter Sarah Silverman told Jimmy Kimmel.
“I did get Italian citizenship,” Kimmel admitted. “I do have that.”
He continued to criticize Trump’s leadership, stating, “As horrible as you feared it would be, it’s even worse. It’s simply incredible. I believe it is probably even worse than he would want.
The podcast presenter said she hopes individuals who voted for Trump regret their decision and that the administration will eventually “bring people together.”
“It’s quite difficult to change your viewpoint. Kimmel went on to say that admitting you’re wrong is really difficult and uncommon.

The announcement came as Stephen Colbert criticized CBS’s large deal with Trump.
The corporate network denied any connection between the host’s statements and the cancellation of his show. “This is purely a financial decision made against a challenging late-night backdrop. “It has nothing to do with the show’s performance, substance, or other developments within Paramount,” a spokeswoman previously told PEOPLE in a statement.
Kimmel responded to the news by sharing footage of Colbert, who took over the program from David Letterman in 2015, on Instagram Stories. “Love you, Stephen,” he wrote in the post, before blasting the network with, “F— you and all your Sheldons, CBS.”
“May every day be another wonderful secret,” he added in the caption, referring to a passage from an alleged cryptic letter written by Trump to sex criminal Jeffrey Epstein, according to The Wall Street Journal.
A few days later, the president took to Truth Social, declaring, “The word is, and it’s a strong word at that, Jimmy Kimmel is NEXT to go in the untalented Late Night Sweepstakes, and, shortly thereafter, [Jimmy] Fallon will be gone.”
While Kimmel has gotten Italian citizenship, Rosie O’Donnell and Ellen DeGeneres have moved to Ireland and England, respectively, in response to Trump’s leadership.
