Kate Mansi, a General Hospital actress, is getting married soon!
On Thursday, July 4, the 36-year-old actress announced on Instagram Stories that producer Matt McInnis dropped down on one knee and proposed shortly before the Fourth of July holiday, and even shared a photo of her new engagement ring.
Mansi reposted McInnis’ engagement post on Instagram, which included a snapshot of the couple grinning with glee. The photo showed McInnis kissing the actress on the forehead, holding her in his arms, and placing her left hand, containing the engagement ring, on his chest. They posed in front of an exquisite setting, replete with trees and a gorgeous mountain.
“Apparently today is a holiday, but I think July 3rd was even better,” McInnis captioned the image, hinting at their engagement date.
Mansi included a remark alongside the post, “LGM(atty)” — a term she previously used in an Instagram Stories photo of herself eating a sandwich with her new rock in full view. The engagement ring looks to be an emerald-cut diamond set in a plain silver band.
Before the surprise engagement, Mansi told Soap Opera Digest that she planned to spend the Fourth of July with friends on a low-key excursion to nature.
“I’ll be heading to a cabin to get some much-needed nature time with my closest friends,” she said in an essay published on Wednesday, July 3.
Several of the couple’s pals extended their congrats in the comment section of McInnis’ article, including Mansi’s General Hospital co-star Kristen Vaganos, who commented that the engagement was “the best news to ever hit the internet!!!!!” Actress Hannah Masi commented, “The caption, the ring, the pair, I adore it all! Congratulations, you two! ❤️️”
Eliza Taylor, the 100 star, expressed her delight with a succession of emoticons, including a sobbing emoji, a love emoji, and a celebration emoji.
Mansi has featured McInnis in a number of his Instagram posts, one from August 2023 showing the two enjoying a “safari” excursion together.
Mansi was formerly married to Blake Levin, and she discussed her sentiments after their divorce on the State of Mind podcast with Maurice Bernard in October 2023. She admitted to feeling “broken” and like a “failure” as a result of the breakup, but that it helped her find inner power inside herself.
“Not only was I grieving the marriage I thought I was going to have, but also the future that I thought I was going to have,” she told Soap Opera Digest. “In that moment, there was so much serenity and freedom. ‘No one is coming to save me. I need to get myself together after this. And that was the first time I fully reclaimed myself.”
