Kim Kardashian, a reality TV personality, made a daring comment about the one and only Marilyn Monroe while wearing her notorious ‘Happy Birthday, Mr. President’ attire.
Arriving at the Met Gala in the same dress Monroe had to patch into for her sensual performance at John F. Kennedy’s birthday in 1962 caused quite a stir.
The Kardashian sister faced criticism for losing 16 pounds in three weeks and allegedly ruining the outfit.
It has long been said that she ruined the dress, resulting in fraying and beading coming off the legendary gown.
The largest controversy erupted when Kim said that several people had no idea who Monroe was before she wore the garment.

On the Today Show, anchor Savannah addressed Kardashian, saying, “We were just talking; you said you were shocked on TikTok; some people don’t even know who Marilyn Monroe was.”
“That was the most shocking thing to me, so I was glad to have that opportunity and that Ripley’s allowed me to share this moment so it could live on.” Kardashian immediately responded.
Monroe famously wore the tight dress at Madison Square Garden on May 19, 1962, only three months before her death by overdose.
Kim continued, “I admire her and appreciate how important this outfit is to American history. With the theme being American, I thought, “What is more American than Marilyn Monroe singing ‘Happy Birthday’ to the President of the United States?”
The cosmetic expert said, “It was quite a process.” I arrived on the red carpet wearing a robe and slippers. “I put the dress on at the bottom of the carpet, went up the stairs, probably wore it for four minutes, and changed at the top.”
Kim also stated that the garment was unharmed, contradicting prior claims.
She said, “No.” Ripley and I collaborated so beautifully.
“It was put on me by handlers and gloves.”
The diva previously told Vogue that she needed to drop 16 pounds (1.14 stone), stating she ‘would wear a sauna suit twice a day, exercise on the treadmill, completely cut out all sweets and carbohydrates, and only eat the cleanest greens and protein’.
Responding to the criticism, Kim stated, “I’m not aiming to shed any more weight, but I have more vitality than before. I reduced my sugar intake and avoided junk food. I altered my entire lifestyle.”
