After being convicted of the murder of a New York City man in 2021, actor Isaiah Stokes, who has featured in episodes of Boardwalk Empire, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, and other shows, was sentenced to 25 years to life in jail.
Melinda Katz, Queens District Attorney, announced Stokes’ punishment in a news statement on Friday, March 21. The actor was convicted earlier this month of second-degree murder and two charges of second-degree illegal possession of a firearm in the shooting death of Tyrone Jones, aged 37.
“Justice has now been served for the premeditated murder perpetrated by this defendant, and he will now spend 25 years of his life in prison as a direct consequence of his criminal actions,” Katz stated in a news release.
During a two-week trial, prosecutors said Stokes, 45, had sought vengeance on Jones since October 2020, when the victim booted him out of his birthday party following an incident at a Queens bar.
The D.A.’s office claims that Stokes placed a GPS tracker under Jones’ car in late January 2021.

Prosecutors claim Stokes tracked down Jones on the afternoon of February 7, 2021, and was sitting in a parked SUV nearby soon before the murder. The actor then exited the SUV and wandered about the area for around 15 minutes before drawing a revolver and shooting 11 times at Jones’ vehicle.
Prosecutors claim that Jones, who was waiting for a companion inside the car, was shot multiple times in the head and chest, and emergency workers immediately declared him dead.
Stokes then drove back to his residence in Queens’ Rego Park area, and later that day, he returned the SUV to a rental place in Hackensack, New Jersey, according to the District Attorney’s office.
The actor was found guilty on March 7, after a two-week jury trial that began on February 13.
Katz earlier described the deadly shot as a “calculated murder” and claimed Stokes was “intent on revenge.”
“According to the charges and trial testimony, 37-year-old victim Tyrone Jones and the defendant, a part-time actor, met during the victim’s birthday party at a Queens club in October 2020,” Katz stated in a news release on March 10.
She added, “Both parties were involved in an incident about Stokes’ improper behavior with female partygoers. Stokes suffered injuries in a violent struggle with other partygoers after defying Jones’ order to leave.
Stokes has been a television actor since the mid-2000s, having been in a 2009 episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, as well as episodes of Boardwalk Empire, Power, Blue Bloods, and The Mysteries of Laura.
He also records and performs music as I$AIAH, according to his IMDb biography.
