Margot Robbie is poised to become a mother for the first time!
The 34-year-old Barbie actress is expecting her first child with husband Tom Ackerley, PEOPLE has learned through numerous sources.
Paparazzi shared a photo of Robbie, who has a slight bulge, walking down a wharf with her tummy out.
Ackerley, 34, is an English film producer, actor, and former assistant director. He and his wife co-founded the production firm LuckyChap Entertainment.
The duo initially met in 2013 while filming the World War II drama Suite Française; Robbie was acting, while Ackerley was the assistant director.
Vogue reports that Robbie brought Ackerley, her childhood friend Sophia Kerr, and Josey McNamara to the UK premiere of The Wolf of Wall Street in January 2014.
The four got along, so she suggested they move in together. They rented a flat in London, and she and Ackerley began dating in 2014.
She told The Guardian in 2018: “We kept it a secret. We just didn’t take it seriously.’ Oh well, we’re just buddies. And then everybody found out.
She asserted that when people learned about the relationship, their friends expressed concern that it would ‘ruin our group’.
Robbie went on to say, “Our house became ‘The Jerry Springer Show’ for a little while. But then the dust cleared, and everything was well. And it didn’t [destroy the group.””It was fine.”
Two years later, in 2016, they married in a low-key wedding in Bryon Bay, Australia, about four hours from her hometown of Dalby.
They were so discreet that they never publicized their engagement.
Their firm has produced classic films such as I, Tonya, which tells the story of Tonya Harding, the first American woman to perform a triple axel at a competition in 1991.
Three years later, her ex-husband conspired to harm the competition by assaulting Nancy Kerrigan, another prospective Olympian; it became one of the most notorious scandals in sports history.
They also collaborated on Barbie and Birds of Prey, a 2020 action comedy in which Robbie played as Harley Quinn, the supervillain first developed for Batman.
All we can say is best wishes to Robbie and Ackerley. Congratulations!
