Authorities in Las Vegas have announced that former The Voice participant Ryan Whyte Maloney has passed away at the age of 44.
The Clark County Coroner in Las Vegas verified Maloney’s passing. The singer had a long career in music that began when he was a youngster.
The vocalist grew up in Michigan, where he played guitar, violin, cello, and drums. In 2005, he made an album as the leader of the progressive rock band Indulge.
He went on to play his tracks around the country, but it was his participation on The Voice in 2014 that catapulted him into the public spotlight when he sang a rendition of Journey’s Lights.
The singer’s abilities astounded the judges, and all four rotated their chairs to indicate their support for him, but Maloney eventually joined Blake Shelton’s team.

Maloney advanced through two battle rounds and became one of Shelton’s top five finalists before returning to perform in the season finale.
Fans of the program are now paying tribute to Maloney.
On Twitter, Las Vegas country music radio station 107.9 Coyote Country tweeted, “The Coyote Country family is heartbroken to learn of Ryan Whyte Maloney’s passing.”
“If you enjoyed country music in Las Vegas, you were familiar with Ryan’s unique voice and tunes. Thank you for your lovely song, which will live on in our hearts forever. #RyanWhyteMaloney.”
Maloney’s musical career continued after his appearance on The Voice, when he worked as a composer for other singers, as well as a guitarist, engineer, and producer in studios. He performed alongside Tim McGraw, Morgan Wallen, Shakira, Usher, and Ed Sheeran and had a continuing engagement at Shelton’s venue, Ole Red.
His most recent hits were Don’t Put Me in a Box and Love with Nowhere to Go.
One day before his passing, Maloney posted a video on Instagram Story with a ‘rock’ motion and the caption: “Nine fine Irishmen for a private party tonight, and we will be rocking.”
