I’m sure we all think our dog is the most gorgeous dog ever, but specialists have determined which is officially the most beautiful (according to science).
When you think of extremely attractive dogs, you may think of the Golden Retriever or the Poodle; however, these two famous breeds did not even enter the top 10.
Of course, beauty is subjective, but there is something known as the ‘golden ratio,’ which is a mathematical ideal that employs predetermined measures to judge how visually appealing something is.
For example, utilizing the golden ratio, Zendaya, Jodie Comer, Bella Hadid, and Ariana Grande were named among the world’s most attractive women.
When the infamous ratio was applied to males, prominent faces such as Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Emily in Paris actor Lucien Laviscount, and Paul Mescal were deemed the most attractive.
We also applied the same ratio to dog breeds.
In recent years, the team at money.co.uk collaborated to apply the golden ratio to some of the world’s most popular dog breeds.
Thus, dog breeds with proportions closer to the golden ratio are statistically more attractive.
According to York Press, the top ten most attractive breeds and their golden ratio percentages are as follows:
10) Pembroke Welsh Corgi (83.9 percent)
9) Norfolk Terrier—84.3 percent
8) Italian Greyhound—84.9%
7) Tolling Retriever—85.0%
6) Weimaraner—85.6%
5) Welsh Terrier—85.9%
4) Rhodesian Ridgeback—86.0%
3) Border Collie—86.7 percent
2) West Highland White Terrier (87.5 percent)
1) Cairn Terrier—88.7%
Meanwhile, among the least attractive breeds were the Shih Tzu, Bulldog, and Rottweiler.
Salman Haqqi, a pet insurance specialist at money.co.uk, commented on the findings at the time, saying, “Of course, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and regardless of a dog’s breed ranking, every dog, regardless of shape or size, should be appreciated.”
“One of the most important ways to care for any dog is to make sure it is fully insured so that any unforeseen expenses can be easily taken care of, allowing you and your pets to enjoy your time together without worry.”
