Stephen Mulhern was brought to the hospital after apparently collapsing in front of Pizza Express customers.
The 47-year-old Deal or No Deal host, who has been on television since the late 1990s, took a temporary leave of absence after his father’s death.
“As Stephen will be taking some time off, we’ve contacted guests to update them that The Masked Singer Live will now be headlining their break,” according to a statement issued last month.
Around 8 p.m. on Wednesday (27 November), the television favorite reportedly received an ambulance dispatch.
Following his transfer to the nearby Frimley Park Hospital in Camberley, Surrey, Mulhern was reportedly eating at a Pizza Express in Sunningdale.
His officials confirmed that they performed a surgery as a precaution.
“Stephen has had a really difficult time in the last few weeks. The death of his loving father has deeply affected him and caused understandable stress, a spokesman told MailOnline.
Additionally, he underwent an operation yesterday (Wednesday). After the anesthesia, he consumed a few beers, which caused him to feel unwell.
A source reportedly told The Sun: “Stephen has been going through a really difficult period lately. He is grieving the loss of his father, to whom he was really close.
“He’s also been dealing with a number of well-documented health issues, and on Wednesday morning he underwent a surgery that required a local anesthetic.
“He went out for a quiet, alone dinner that evening, had a few drinks, and responded really horribly.” He’s only human, and his father’s death has affected him deeply.
“Stephen immediately felt unwell, and concerned staff came over and called 999.” Paramedics examined him and sent him to the hospital as a precaution. They also put him on the phone with his mother to reassure her of his well-being.
“Stephen is recovering well at home now and is resting up.” He is deeply grateful for the treatment he received and feels ashamed of his terrible, and public, response to the anesthesia.
Mulhern started his career in entertainment as a magician on Magic Circle before moving to television in the late 1990s.
