The man lights up the stage with a children’s choir, transforming ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ into something out of fantasy

In 2019, Marc Martel, a well-known Canadian artist, was invited to the Golden Wave Award presentation in Georgia. This is Georgia’s premier music awards presentation, held at the opulent Tbilisi Opera and Ballet State Theatre. The planners of the 2019 concert opted to pay homage to the band Queen. With that in mind, there was no one better to ask to perform a brief set at the event than Martel, whose voice is very similar to that of Queen’s late vocalist, Freddie Mercury.

Martel, a Christian rock musician who previously played in the band Downhere, delivered an incredible performance of Queen covers for the wedding. The last song, his rendition of the classic “Bohemian Rhapsody,” was the highlight of the evening. His solo performance would have been impressive enough, but the Tbilisi Children’s Capella Choir joined him to provide background vocals. The mix of Martel’s powerful delivery and the children’s pure vocals produced a distinct sound for the lucky audience members.
