The Sixth Sense star, Haley Joel Osment, faced arrest. Details revealed…

Last week, authorities arrested Haley Joel Osment on suspicion of public intoxication.

Sergeant Jason Heilman confirmed to PEOPLE that the 37-year-old Sixth Sense actor was jailed for suspected public drunkenness and possession of an undisclosed controlled narcotic on Tuesday, April 8, in Mammoth Lakes, California. “He was booked and is no longer in custody,” Heilman stated.

TMZ was the first to report on Osment’s arrest. Reps for the actor did not immediately reply to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

The Mammoth Lakes Police Department detained Osment, according to the Mono County Sheriff’s Office, which also shared a mugshot from the incident with PEOPLE.

The Mono County district attorney is allegedly considering whether or not to pursue Osment’s case.

This is not Osment’s first run-in with the law. On Super Bowl Sunday in 2018, the actor had a public verbal altercation at McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas, prompting authorities to respond.

After being wounded in an automobile accident in 2006, Osment, then 18, was charged with misdemeanor drunk driving. He eventually pleaded not guilty to one count of driving under the influence of alcohol and one count of marijuana possession and was sentenced to three years of probation.

Osment costarred in Zoë Kravitz’s film Blink Twice, released last year.

His sister, actress Emily Osment, said on Instagram that members of her family had lost their homes in the Los Angeles fires in early January. “This has been a really challenging month.” Thank you to everyone who has reached out to my family in the aftermath of the fires,” she posted on January 26.
