Elvis himself would have stopped mid-step, mouth dropped, because this duet of “In the Ghetto” hit so hard. You could feel it from the first note—as if the entire room was holding its breath. Every phrase held the weight of hard days and aching emotions, like stories passed down around the kitchen table.
When their voices blended, it wasn’t simply harmony; it was enchantment, as if something larger took control. The feeling was naked, with no filter or fluff. It wasn’t just an homage to Elvis; it was as if the song’s essence had come back to life. And if you listened carefully, you could almost hear the King tipping his hat from the skies.
Each singing talent competition has its unique format, but all involve a single round in which competitors compete directly against one another. In The Voice series, they are known as battle rounds: two singers perform a duet of a single song on the same stage, and one is picked as the winner.

What’s intriguing about the Voice battle rounds is that they occasionally yield performances that outperform many of the solo performances that propelled the singers to the next round in the first place. Well, here’s a performance so remarkable that you’ll wonder how the judges could have eliminated either talent.
This comes from The Voice of Germany, which features Karina Klüber and Alexander Eder. Alexander was well-known from the first round for his extraordinarily deep voice when he performed Johnny Cash’s “Ring of Fire.”
In this round, the team tackles another great American song, “In the Ghetto,” penned by Mac Davis and popularized by Elvis Presley. It depicts the brutal reality of ghetto existence, as well as the vicious cycle of poverty and crime. It is a melancholy meditation on the difficulties that ghetto residents confront, as well as how their fate is heavily influenced by their surroundings. Many singers have recorded the song over the years, making it an anthem for those living in poverty.
This rendition is so wonderful that I don’t believe I need to say anything further except that I think you’ll really enjoy it. Please leave a Facebook comment to let us know what you think after seeing the fantastic film below!
